Deborah Kelly is Director of Training and Communications at the Thomson Foundation. She oversees Thomson’s blended learning approach through its e-learning platform Journalism Now and in-person training programmes. Thomson runs training, support and mentoring programmes for media organisations, journalists and communicators across the globe. A journalist for more than 30 years, Deborah held senior editorial roles at the UK’s commercial news broadcaster ITV news and worked as a Programme Editor for Al Jazeera English. She also worked for Reuters and the BBC.
Prior to joining Thomson, Deborah was a Senior Lecturer at one of the UK’s leading journalism universities and continues to give guest lectures. Deborah continues to trains journalists in face-to-face and online workshops, her focus is mainly on mobile journalism and multi-platform storytelling. She has worked with journalists in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the Middle East and a number of Asian counties.
A Fellow of the UK’s Higher Education Academy, she holds a Masters in mass communications.
