What’s it like to use AI to help detect bias and discrimination in text? Can it be done in both English and Arabic? These were the questions that journalists and technologists from Deutsche Welle, ABC Australia, and Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism addressed when they began the JournalismAI Fellowship in 2023. Over six months, they collaborated across newsrooms, time zones, and departments to come up with a working plugin to surface biassed text.
In this session, they will share a live demo of their plugin, share the process, the challenges, and opportunities that lie ahead for anyone seeking to create a similar tool.
Organised in association with JournalismAI.
