Marc Lavallee
Marc Lavallee joined Knight Foundation in May 2022. He is the director of technology product and strategy for the journalism program. Marc brings more than two decades of experience as a software developer and technology executive in the journalism industry to this role. Prior to joining Knight, Marc worked at The New York Times for over a decade, where he led cross-functional teams of developers, designers and product strategists in the newsroom and on the business side. In 2016, Marc launched a new research and development unit focused on applying emerging technologies like machine learning and 5G in the service of journalism. Previously, he was a software developer and technology architect at various news organizations, including NPR, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe and National Journal.
Rachel White
Rachel White is president of theguardian.org and executive vice president, philanthropic and strategic partnerships at Guardian News and Media. Prior to joining the Guardian, she served as executive vice president and interim president of the Washington D.C.-based, journalism-centered think tank New America Foundation. Working across media, policy, government, the private sector, and philanthropy, she led the organization in advancing new thinkers and new ideas to address the next generation of challenges facing the United States, and launched New America NYC and New America Live. From 1995 to 2005, Rachel worked for the World Wildlife Fund where she launched programs in San Francisco, New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Houston, and played a central and lead role on the Living Planet Campaign.
Sarah Bishop Woods
Sarah Bishop Woods is the Chief of Staff at News Revenue Hub. Previously, she was director of development at Vox.com, overseeing philanthropic partnerships and business across podcasting, video, and the text newsroom. Prior to that, she was a video journalist and producer focusing on climate change, emerging technologies, and urbanism and public art. Sarah’s work is built on journalism as a tool for education, community building, and public good.
