Through the lenses of investigative journalism and litigation, in this session we will explore two sides of the same coin, climate obstruction and accountability: who is delaying and hindering climate action and how? And how can we expose and counteract obstruction?
From some of the most misleading communication strategies of the fossil fuel industry to some pivotal cases in recent climate litigation, we will dive into why climate action is slow and insufficient, and some of the ways to deal with those who are responsible for climate deception and obstruction.

Benjamin Franta
Benjamin Franta is a Senior Research Fellow in Climate Litigation at the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme and the founding head of the Climate Litigation Lab. His research focuses on applying rigorous methods to practical challenges presented by climate litigation worldwide and has been published in Nature Climate Change, Global Environmental Change, The Guardian, and more, translated into 10 languages, and cited in the US Congressional Record. Benjamin holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard University, a separate PhD in History (History of Science) from Stanford University, a JD from Stanford Law School, an MSc in Archaeological Science from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Physics and Mathematics from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is also a licensed attorney and a member of the State Bar of California.
Stella Levantesi
Stella Levantesi è una giornalista climatica, fotografa e autrice. Si occupa soprattutto di cambiamento climatico e di disinformazione e negazionismo sul tema. Nel 2021 ha tenuto un TED Talk sull'argomento, dal titolo The dominance illusion. chi mente sul clima e perché. Ha pubblicato i suoi lavori, tra gli altri, su New York Republic, DeSmog, Nature Italia, Wired Italia, Center for Investigative Journalism (Puerto Rico), Internazionale, Manifesto, Domani e LifeGate. Si è specializzata alla scuola di giornalismo della New York University. Ha pubblicato I bugiardi del clima (Laterza, 2021), dove indaga la storia e le tattiche del negazionismo climatico.
