Social media is essentially breaking up with the news industry — how are publishers moving on? With X, formerly known as Twitter, and Facebook de-prioritizing news in algorithms, publishers have seen huge declines in referral traffic and more disruption is expected to come from Google Search with the rise of AI. Entire business models on news distribution are being upended. We’ll talk to top newsroom leaders who are living this battle every day to discuss how they’re pivoting.

Sarah Muller is Managing Editor of Digital for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Bloomberg News. She directs a team of digital and social editors in London, Dublin and Dubai to produce high-quality journalism and breaking news across platforms. She has extensive experience transforming legacy newsrooms to reimagine workflows, create digital-first content and drive website traffic. Prior to joining Bloomberg, she worked in digital at MSNBC, WNYC, MTV News and Comedy Central. Sarah is an alum of the Sulzberger Executive Leadership Program at Columbia University.

The role entails overseeing the flagship program, Executive Program in News Innovation & Leadership, for professional development for newsroom executives globally. Niketa is responsible for curriculum development, instruction, class design, recruitment, fundraising & marketing efforts for this program & more. Niketa heads up other J+ leadership initiatives too. Most recently, as Senior Director of Partnerships and Platforms at The 19th, Niketa oversaw editorial partnerships with a focus on republishing, co-publishing, collaborations, events and more.
