Louise Story, who was pivotal to the digital transformations and innovation reports of The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, joins Dmitry Shishkin, who first brought “user needs” as an important concept in newsrooms while he was a leader at The BBC and recently joined Ringier AG as CEO for their international media division, in a discussion about what new user needs will develop as AI becomes more widespread. AI and the tools being built using AI will provide services and experiences that reshape the expectations of the public about online experiences. This discussion will explore what new types of user needs may emerge and how news companies can build AI for the news users of the future even as they deploy it today. Among the areas they will cover: the likely changes to search and content distribution, expectations users will likely have about discovery and story formats, and services news companies might consider exploring as AI-enabled new business areas.

Sala della Vaccara
La Sala della Vaccara si trova nel lato nord del Palazzo dei Priori, nell’area ove sorgeva l'antica chiesa di San Severo. Fu realizzata attorno al 1339 ed è stata sede del primo archivio comunale. La sala si presenta con volte a crociera e costolature e al suo interno rimangono brani di affreschi raffiguranti santi protettori dei traffici commerciali e delle attività artigianali. Sulla parete di fondo è collocato un distacco di affresco raffigurante la Madonna con Bambino e Santi di Tiberio di Assisi (Scuola umbra del XV Sec.).

Dmitry Shishkin, an expert in digital transformation in media, content strategy, and innovation in publishing, is CEO of Ringier Media International, looking after the holding's media companies in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in Africa. Before joining Ringier, he consulted media and tech companies on how to do content/product alignment, strategy and audience development better (2020-2023). He describes himself as a collector, evangelist and enforcer of user needs models in digital publishing. Before that, he was Chief Content Officer at Culture Trip, a content-first travel tech startup. Before that, he worked for 21 years at BBC News in London where he was responsible for developing and implementing the BBC’s digital editorial strategy for 41 non-English foreign language news services. Dmitry’s main area of expertise is on the intersection between Editorial, Organisational, Strategy, Data and Product disciplines - how they all fit together for the benefit of users.
Louise Story
Louise Story is a journalist, technologist, filmmaker and media consultant. Previously, she was the Chief News Strategist and Chief Product and Technology Officer for The Wall Street Journal, overseeing The Journal’s news coverage strategy as one of the top four editors in the newsroom and also running the full product, design and engineering teams for the WSJ business-wide. She was the lead author of the Journal's Content Review, the sweeping review of its audience and content that helped the Journal accelerate its growth. Before that, Louise worked at The New York Times for 11 years in a variety of roles including helping to develop The Times’ digital strategy as a co-author of The Innovation Report and running its live video unit. Throughout her career, Louise has reported on business and finance, and she was a leading reporter on the 2008 financial crisis.
