Kavita Devi
Kavita Devi is the co-founder of Khabar Lahariya and the co-CEO of Chambal Media. A Banda local herself - she likes to call herself Kavita Bundelkhandi, having chosen to drop her last name deliberately many years ago - she is also the region's first Dalit woman anchor to host her own news and views weekly, The Kavita Show. Kavita brings with her several years of field reporting, having started out as a reporter herself, and often reports on special stories even today. Viewed as a formidable figure of inspiration and empowerment locally, especially for women, Kavita is also a TED speaker.
Priya Thuvassery
Priya Thuvassery is an independent documentary filmmaker and television producer based in New Delhi, India. Her work focuses on challenging gender inequality by amplifying women’s voices and perspectives, offering profound insights into lives shaped by the intersections of body, environment, and community. With over 15 years of experience, Priya has collaborated with prominent organizations such as PSBT, NDTV, CNA, and the Films Division of India to produce thought-provoking films that confronts entrenched narratives. Her independent films— Coral Woman, Survey Number Zero, City Girls, and My Sacred Glass Bowl—have captivated global audiences and earned acclaim for their nuanced, impactful storytelling. Priya’s vision extends beyond her filmmaking. She is recognized as a Global Ford Fellow, an INLAKS Fellow, and a Canon Cinema EOS Ambassador. A former Co-Director of the IAWRT Asian Women’s Film Festival and an alumna of the Anwar Jamal Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia, Priya is currently the Co-CEO of Chambal Media.
