News organizations that have moved toward subscription models sometimes find that retaining paid subscribers can be as challenging and important as attracting new ones. When produced well, podcasts play an important role in keeping existing subscribers engaged, both delivering quality news and helping drive sustainable revenue. Our panel will share examples and insights with actionable ideas for newsrooms to produce podcasts that provide excellent journalism and keep subscribers informed and satisfied.

Situato in Corso Vannucci, l’immobile è sede della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio ed ora anche della nuova Fondazione CARIPERUGIA ARTE. Nel 1895 Annibale Brugnoli realizzò quattro grandi quadri ad olio sulle pareti e quattro grandi dipinti murali sulla volta di quello che successivamente venne chiamato “Salone del Brugnoli”, ancora oggi la sala di maggior pregio dell’intero complesso.

Mark Garrison edits, produces and sometimes presents the daily podcast Apple News Today. Before joining Apple News, he was a manager and presenter at news outlets including the Wall Street Journal, NPR, CNN and Marketplace. He studied at Columbia Business School as a Knight-Bagehot fellow.

Nicole Jackson is head of audio at The Guardian, overseeing a slate of award-winning podcasts including the Guardian's daily news show Today in Focus, Football Weekly, Politics Weekly UK and Politics Weekly US, Comfort Eating, Pop Culture with Chante and the chart topping narrative series Can I Tell You A Secret. Prior to that she was the executive editor of Today in Focus, joining as part of the launch team and was instrumental in turning Today in Focus into the UK's leading news podcast. Prior to Today in Focus, Nicole worked as a commissioning editor in the Guardian's multimedia department where she produced and directed award-winning films, was features editor of the Guardian's Saturday magazine and was a commissioning editor on g2, the Guardian's daily news features magazine.

Nishat Kurwa is SVP and executive producer of Vox Media Podcast Network. Kurwa joined Vox Media in 2017 as the Vox Media Podcast Network’s first executive producer to oversee programming strategy, production operations, and new show development. As the network’s executive producer, she’s collaborated with the company’s editorial brands to develop a slate that includes acclaimed podcasts like daily news show Today, Explained and culture podcast Into It, and has led the development and production of shows for partners including Apple, Spotify, and Audible. She’s also launched and helped grow franchises around award-winning podcasts like tech and business show Pivot, and Land of the Giants, VMPN’s narrative series about the five major technology giants, which was adapted into a CNN+ and Vice TV series earlier this year.
